B&G places fence at special chicken shed.
B&G feels honoured to
contribute to the realization of special projects. The 'Rondeel'
shed Berkhoeve that arose in the village of Wintelre (province of
Noord-Brabant), is an example of such a project. In the star-shaped
shed, the second of its kind in the Netherlands, eggs are produced
with great consideration of animal welfare and the environment. The
eggs have been awarded the three stars 'Beter Leven Kenmerk'
(Better Life Feature) by the Dutch Animal Protection Foundation:
the highest score. B&G provided the outdoor area of the chicken
shed with various types of fencing and gates.
When driving onto the farmyard of
the Rondeel shed in Wintelre it is not immediately clear whether
you are viewing a chicken shed or an aviary of a Zoo. The premise
and the shed are fully equipped to receive visitors. Inside you
find information about the company, there are meeting rooms for
rent and you can observe the free-ranging chickens through a
visitor tunnel made out of glass. Outside the premise resembles a
park with a pond, playground and footpaths surrounding the
sheds.
Record pace
Rondeel BV project manager Johan
Vermeulen chose the B&G fences and gates to fence off the
outdoor area, manage the visitor flow and separate it from work
traffic. "This project needed to be realized in a very short time
span in the middle of the winter", says Vermeulen. "This meant
short lead times and very tight deadlines. I was looking for a
partner who could meet these requirements. B&G stood out from
the competition regarding two key issues: the speed of delivery and
installation and the price/performance ratio."
Various types of
fencing
In total, B&G supplied
approximately one kilometre of fence interrupted by single and
double gates several times. At the table in the large meeting room
Vermeulen outlines what products have been applied and where. For
the main part of the shed and the manager's house Vermeulen chose
concertina wire without a top rail. "It is supposed to look decent
but I also have to keep an eye on the costs," says the project
manager. "We did dug-in the mesh around the house ten centimetres
to prevent the managers' dogs from entering the visitor's
area."
Along the main road and at the
entrance Vermeulen wanted a fence with appearance. Therefore, he
chose the more luxurious B&G Rondissade vertical bar fencing
system to be placed on this spot. All gates on the property are
from the same system, as well as a part of the fencing between the
visitors' area and the working area. The part of the fencing
adjacent to the playground is equipped with welded mesh panel
fences. Vermeulen: "It has a beautiful appearance and is
child-resistant."
In order to guide the visitors from
the parking lot to the right direction, Vermeulen fenced it off
with concertina wire with top rail. "Vermeulen explains: "Since the
fence is situated in plain view, I prefer this type".
Solution
oriented
Vermeulen is very pleased with the
co-operation with B&G. "It was an ambitious project. B&G
has continuously brainstormed and co-operated very well. The
project leader called me regularly and often visited the site to
check the progress that was made. Moreover, the mechanics aligned
things well during the project. If an unforeseen change happened
B&G helped us to find the proper solution. All of this I
find very important."
It is too early for Vermeulen to
ascertain whether a next 'Rondeel' shed will be fenced off with
B&G fences as well. "In principle, we only install the stable
complex and optionally offer the design of the outdoor area. But
B&G can definitely expect to receive a positive reference from
us."
