Mondriaan Zorggroep Heerlen, duration 6 months of which 6 weeks
assembly
Project
description:
Mondriaan is an institution for mental health care in the Dutch
province of Limburg. Annually, Mondriaan provides care to over
10,000 people with psychological or psychiatric problems and to
people with addiction problems. Moreover, Mondriaan offers forensic
psychiatry. Their location in Heerlen is transformed into a medium
secured building with strict fencing requirements: the fence has to
meet certain penitentiary requirements. DMV Architects from
Kerkrade has designed the renewed building.
The security
solution:
Mondriaan has chosen a special type of chain link fence. The
construction consists of heavy welded safety panels with posts that
have tailor-made corner constructions with a bend and double curved
head.
The welded mesh panels follow the
shape of the posts and have an extra small mesh size. By using this
special, extra fine mesh size in the fence, climbing over is made
extremely difficult. Several swing gates have been included in the
fence.
The assembly of the fence was a
challenge since the site was difficult to access, the fencing
needed to be fixed on slopes and platforms, and because of the
special construction of the fence.
